So You're Not Scared of Getting a DUI in Jackson?

Picture this.  You're from Rankin County and want to have some fun at one of the boom-boom garbage dumps that have cropped up downtown.  The kind of place that would never be allowed in your community.  You pull up and park in the dive's dimly lit parking lot.  Your Rankin County tag clearly displayed on the bumper.

You leave at 2am feeling good.  Unbeknownst to you, concerned downtown residents are watching.  One of them anonymously calls Flowood and Pearl PD to report a suspected drunk driver.  Dispatch sends out a BOLO (be on the lookout) call to all officers.

Fast forward 20 minutes.

It's 0220 hours.  Officer Billy Joe Hammer is 10-8, sitting in a parking lot off Highway 80.  He's fresh out of DUI-SFST Instructor School.  Locked, cocked and ready to put Rankin County foot to some drunk driving ass.  He sees a vehicle--your vehicle--and it matches the BOLO call in every detail.

Whatcha think he's gonna do?

  1. I'm from Madison, and I would be caught dead in Jackson, Mississippi

  6. And what are you going to do about it if somebody does 258?

  7. I'm pretty certain this happens. This would be why if I go downtown, I stay in a hotel or take a cab.

    Nice piece.

  8. "I stay in a hotel"

We would welcome you Kapt, but there is something GROSS about the "patrons" of Level 3 checking into the King, with their "ladies" at 3 in the morning. They should be required to post a disclaimer on the back of the room doors.

We that live here see this every night the Level 3 is open.

  9. I'm with you! When we were down there we were lucky enough to see something out of the 70's replete with hookers. It was pretty surreal. I was thinking I needed a pair of golf shoes.

  13. Sounds like someone has a personal vendetta against Rankin and Madison Counties where the the majority property owners are "white flight"ers from Hinds county. We have functional governing authorities instead of Kenneth Stokes(pronounced STOKE(his words)) that will actually prosicute law breakers instead of helping "they brothers" out...i.e the two thugs who broke into the womans house a few weeks ago and killed her. There was a manhunt until they were caught...tried, convicted, and sentenced within a week. Would that ever happen in Hinds county? Let me answer that, NOPE. The majority just voted out the last hope for law (McMillan).
